The Story: About two hundred or so years ago, though time has been lost since the time I speak of, the world was a warzone. There seemed to be relative peace, but the world as we knew it was being torn apart by other means. Man was found to be a destructive creature and nearly brought to ruin the wild horses of the earth. They were taken away to be punished unjustly beneath the whip and yoke of a plow. From ill treatment they were nearly wiped out.
The remainder of the beautiful wild beasts were busy trying to stay hidden when a savior arrived. His name was Fallen and he lead them safely away from the destruction, saving those he could from their oppressors with his gifts and talents and powers. He took them to a valley named Penori, one that humans had not stepped on in a millennium, or so they thought, protected and guarded by a shield of magic (animals could come and go as they pleased, humans were blinded to the valley’s existence).
He set himself up as Lord Protector, justly watching over his large herd. As time went by, the numbers grew and he assigned beneath him three other leaders, one each for the inclination of sides: the lights, darks, and neutrals. And things were very well for awhile until one day Fallen did not appear as he usually would. The mighty and much loved stag simply disappeared. Many say that he perished for unknown reasons, some speculate he left to seek out more of the oppressed, and the cynical will say he grew tired of his responsibilities and left out of selfish desires.
All anyone knows is that the guardians he left in charge eventually, also, gradually, vanished after him. After that the world they had created fell into chaos as is as we know it today. Many search for their Lord to this day. Will he ever come back with his guardians to restore balance to the alliances once again? Or has him and his morals and legend died along with his presence?
----------------------------------------------------------
Though Fallen’s intentions are sincere, there was one error that he had missed. He was not the first one to discover this marvelous valley that he made a home for equine refugees. And, in fact, it had been not long ago that humans had nearly destroyed the lush haven. Yes, the valley was once known to the wolves as Crystal Water Creek, its founder a wolf named Ruffgar along with his other guardians, Kona, IcyFire, and Lune. Several generations of guardians came and went across Crystal Water Creek and things were peaceful.
But back then the wolves had only been able to simply rely on the extensive terrain hiding their beautiful valley and, eventually, humans found their way into paradise. They brought with them traps, guns, hounds, and, worst of all, fire. Many wolves perished in these plagues, many more fled for their lives. The select few who decided to stay, stick it out, were trapped at all angles. The remaining guardian, Kona, sheltered them as long as he could, but when the fires struck there was nothing even he and his power over the flames could do.
The valley was almost completely burned to ash by the time the human hunters had took their leave of the once green valley. After that, those who had survived, had no choice but to leave the now barren land to seek survival outside the charred ruins. However, after a time, there were some who recalled Crystal Water Creek and decided to return. The first was a female wolf, a descendant of Ruffgar, named Noonday Miracle who journeyed back to the lands of Crystal Water. And she found that it was reviving. So she struck out to search for others, others would return on their own, and she brought many back with her (including three guardians to help her with the restoration: Ryker, Haben, and Mystic Rose).
Things went all according to the plan of good-life, up until the point when Noonday Miracle passed away from an unknown illness (her son, Arctic Fang, would later succeed her). At about that time strange creatures much larger than any deer they had ever seen, with long legs and swift gaits, began to invade their valley. For a long while the wolves took to hiding, simply watching in fear. Would these creatures destroy their home as the humans once did? Slowly they are beginning to reveal themselves, many with open minds and others with suspicion and grudge.
